Little birds want you to take a break

Break Birds is a desktop app built around a gentle invasion. After two hours of continuous screen work, small illustrated swallows begin to appear on your screen and follow the movement of your cursor. They don’t alert or demand, they just show up, flocking quietly around wherever you point, cute enough to make you smile but persistent enough that you can’t really keep working. After ten minutes they disappear on their own, or you can pause them if you need a moment longer.

The project sits at the intersection of illustration and interaction design, and it captures something I keep coming back to: that the most effective interventions are the ones that feel human rather than mechanical. A notification is easy to swipe away. Small birds following your every move is harder to ignore, and harder not to feel something about.
